Hi Zaher.
Stock up in sun tan lotion, always stay in 5 star hotel as other ratings will let you down. Get your self a travel guide which will equip you with helpful tips.
Regards

Skywalker, for you , what is your favorite place in Egypt & why ?
Do you prefer the historical places like Luxor or the beach areas in the red sea ? |

Hi gary123
There is an advantage of staying near beaches due to close by activities
and eateries, you can always go and see history through day trips.

Modern Egyptians will try and hassle you for money - it's almost like it's a beggar society, and the stuff in the gift shops is almost universally resin, though gets sold as bronze or stone. All the shops sell from the same supplier, so only pay what you'd be comfortable paying, and when haggling start much lower than you planned. If you don't like the deal, just walk away- all the other shops will sell the same thing.
If near the Nile, ensure you're well covered on a night against mosquitos. |

If you wish to organise everything yourself, be prepared for the occasional “rip-off”. Like many other tourist destinations, Egypt has its “wolves”, those who prey on unsuspecting travellers. Often the total cost of an excursion can be a lot more than if you had arranged it through your hotel, or a travel agent, and a lot less enjoyable.
Never drink the tap water! It is okay to wash, shower and clean your teeth with it, but not advised to drink. Bottled water is cheap and plentiful; use it instead!
In Egypt they drive on the right, be careful when crossing roads. Take special care in Cairo, where the traffic is a lot busier than in other Egyptian cities – especially outside the Egyptian museum! UK and Japanese travelers should be extra careful, as you will be used to traffic driving on the left. |

| If you wish to convert your currency, you can use $US, £UK or Euros, as they are accepted in many banks and other places. But not Scottish pounds, Irish punts, and New Zealand dollars etc. as they are not accepted there |

places you must see in egypt.... |
|
|
1. The Great Pyramids and Sphinx
Lying adjacent to the Giza pyramids is the Great Sphinx of Giza, the legendary half-human half-lion statue. There are multimedia shows, known as the Light and Sound shows, that showcase the Pyramids, the Sphinx as well as Egypt's general history. Be impressed by the dazzling lights and the commentary, which are available in several languages.
2. Nile River
Known as the longest river in the world, the River Nile has been a lifeline for Egyptian Society since ancient times. Sit back, relax and enjoy the unique sights and sound of the Nile as you sail on routes taken by Pharaohs and other legendary figures.
3. Siwa Oasis
The Siwa Oasis, located near Cairo, is known for its dates and olives. It has also been acknowledged as one of the most beautiful spots in Egypt. The Siwa Oasis differs from most of the rest of Egypt as it has its own Siwan culture distinct from the mainstream Arabic culture. The area is also famous for its numerous hot springs, which are said to have healing properties.
4. Hurghada
Hurghada is an Egyptian city on the Red Sea that is a tourist favourite. Its nightlife, in particular, is a main attraction. There are a number of quality aquatic sports facilities. Hurghada also boasts several magnificent underwater gardens offshore.
All the best for your holidays

How about going on self catering holidays, then? Is it worth at all? |

Egypt is famous for its hot and humid weather so it is necessary for a traveler to prevent himself from exposing direct sunlight and wear light clothes to suit the weather conditions. Always find a good hotel accommodation for better facilities and services. Drink a lot of water to beat the heat in summer.

| Egypt is not like any other country. While visiting Egypt, make sure to prepare yourself for a cultural shock since it is a muslim country. Avoid holding hands with your partner in public since it doesn't go well with the local people. Always drink bottled water and be aware of pickpockets. Carry a first aid kit with you so that you are not high and dry in case of an eventuality. Also do carry a sun screen since the temperature tends to rise during afternoons. Learn some of the common words which will help in case you are stuck somewhere. Last but not the least, do hire a local guide to move around a new place. It helps a lot. |
